“TrendCenter 2000” is a faux-retro, semi-improvisational comedy webseries made with the team of apprentices at my then-workplace. The plot follows an overconfident homeless businessman, Stevie, who acquires a failing film production studio with only 2 employees left, a semi-competent junior TV producer and an intern who is both not familiar with the language and additionally does not seem very interested in the whole video production business at all. Stevie also brings a trashy computer nerd and deranged inventor on board as well as a half-working accountant cyborg who is more occupied with trying to fix the coffee machine than anything else.
Everything was made in a purposefully trashy late-90s aesthetic with cheap MIDI music and raw interlaced VHS footage.
Along with acting as one of the characters, as well as variantly writing, directing and filming parts of the series I was chiefly responsible for editing the series, creating graphics and providing the music. I also wrote the english subtitles for most episodes.
